Guitar making

The Cambridge Violin Makers started guitar making classes in January 2014.  Nearly three years later and several pupils have completed their first instruments.  Prospective new pupils will initially be able to make a Martin style steel strung acoustic guitar. In the future we intend to offer further options including classical guitar and cavaquinho..

The class runs on Saturday afternoons from 1pm - 5pm and is currently taught by Jamie Swannell and Christopher Beament.

Fees

The fee for each term is 220 for a total of forty hours tuition. Materials are extra and typically would require initially an outlay of 150-250 for all the timber and a further 100-150 for the fittings.

Pupils can expect to make a guitar in approximately two years.
