One-week summer courses
Our one week violin making courses occupy The Workshop for eight or even nine weeks from early July to the beginning of September. Some experienced amateurs have been coming for many years, but newcomers with no previous experience are warmly welcomed. Such mixed classes allow new makers to see instruments at different stages of construction. We encourage students to bring their own tools if they have them - although this is not essential, as The Workshop is amply equipped with all the tools you will need. A range of suitable woods and fittings are also available to augment the course and accommodation for the week is also availalble |
Daytime/evening classes
Courses run on a ten week term either side of Christmas with some additional classes running after Easter. Costs for these courses vary, but fall somewhere between £180 & £240 per term. Materials as needed are extra. |
Here are the later four stages as the corners are shaped, the upper and lower ribs are bent, then glued on, and finally trimmed and linings inserted. |
