More information on violin making courses

The course begins on Sunday afternoon with tea, meeting the instructors, and an introduction for new students explaining what they can expect to achieve in their week's activity.  Those who have booked accommodation are given keys and shown where they are staying.
From Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 6.00pm each student works on his/her project.
There are breaks for demonstrations, discussions, and for lunch.
Tea and coffee are available on the premises.
On one evening during the week a lecture or discussion is provided by a professional player, maker, someone in an allied trade, or an academic studying the history or acoustics of instruments.
There is also the possibility that some informal chamber music can be played if course members arrange it between them - so do bring an instrument you can play with you, especially if you have made it.
The course ends at lunchtime on Saturday but participants are welcome to stay on to use the workshop as a venue for lunch. We used to have an end of week communal lunch but since Covid that's not been possible.

On one evening normally towards the end of the course instruments made by pupils are on display and a professional player is invited in to try them out. On the Saturday afternoon for those that can stay on some informal music making takes place.
